Thanks for making the 'Sabor Cubano' fundraiser a sucess

Posted: Sunday, December 27, 2009

The Canvas community art studio offers a heartfelt thank you to all of the attendees and volunteers who made "Sabor Cubano" a successful fundraiser for our REACH student scholarship fund.

First and foremost, thanks to the chefs, Maria Uchytil, Carl Uchytil, Jon Geselle and Susan Haymes; bartender Brendan Sullivan, and speakers Italia Perez and Marianne Manning.

We couldn't have set up, served dinner and cleaned up without the help of Jesuit volunteers Amanda Baker, Nicolle Gameiro and Avanti Peters and Americorps Volunteers April Rebert, Lawrence Place, Piper Bartlett, Daniel Fernandez, Kristina Zuldema and Niza Volair.

The elegance of the evening was set thanks to salsa dancers Antonio Diaz, Lisa Coogan and Alex Sargent.

A huge thank you to all of the artists who donated art to the auction: Barbara Craver, Aleisha McCormick, Donna Griffin, Rick Morrison, Lindsay Hallvik, Fran Kinkead, Grace Coenraad, Karen Beason, Jackie Forrester, Bonnie Hawkins, Rebecca Smith, Ivan James, Monica O'Keefe, Jane Lindsey, Karen Willey, Lynn Schell, Tasha Walen, Joyce Payne, Roy Holme, Niall Johnson, Nell McConahey and Dana White.

And a special thanks to the businesses who supported this event and the REACH student scholarship fund: Rainforest Pediatric Care, Pie in the Sky, Northwind Architects, Perseverance Theatre, Taproot Yoga, Abby's Kitchen and Primo Prawns.

We appreciate your support, and hope you will join us for art in 2010.
