ANCHORAGE - An Anchorage man was arrested following a long standoff in the early morning hours.
Anchorage police say they responded to a report of a disturbance with a weapon just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning. The person who called police said Frederick Foerch, 26, was making threats against his girlfriend and the female had come to the caller's apartment following an argument.
Police say Foerch went up the apartment stairwell with a shotgun and began making threats. He later returned to his lower-level apartment and barricaded himself.
Police say they tried to make contact and eventually evacuated neighboring resident and called in SWAT officers.
After several hours of attempted contact, Foerch surrendered just after 5:30 a.m.
Foerch was arrested on assault and weapons charges. He is being held in the Anchorage City Jail on $50,150 bail.
