Knights provide seminarian support

The Knights of Columbus, Bishop Kenny Council 11757, recently distributed $2,500 in proceeds from their second annual computer raffle in financial support of five seminarians. Four of the five seminarians are studying for the Diocese of Juneau.

Council 11757 began the raffle in 2000 for the purpose of raising monies to support vocations in the Diocese of Juneau. Last year the

Knights were able to provide financial assistance to three seminarians.

One of the key goals of the Knights of Columbus is to support priestly and religious vocations throughout the world. Toward this goal, the national chapter of the Knights of Columbus offers wide-ranging support for vocations, including:

RSVP Program Since 1981, more than $22.9 million has been contributed to seminarians or postulates under this program

Vocations Scholarship Fund Since 1992, approximately 500 seminarians have recieved annual scholarships in the amount of $2,500 from our Supreme Council.

Support of Seminarians Abroad - The Knights support the North American College, the Pontifical Canadian College, the Pontifical Mexican College, and the American College in Louvain, Belgium

In 1999, approximately 60 percent of all seminarians received some typeof financial support from the Knights of Columbus.
