...for your efforts

Upon returning to Juneau after being gone for several weeks, I received an emergency call from a respite worker at REACH, for whom I work. An infant that she was providing services for requires monitoring for sleep apnea at all times. A critical piece of the monitor had broken. Due to several factors, our only immediate solution to the problem was to go to the hospital to see if they could replace a part for the monitor.

The efforts of the staff there were most impressive and went above and beyond the call of duty. Every staff person recognized the gravity of the situation and did not hesitate to creatively problem solve to find a replacement monitor. Even staff who were off came in during the very hazardous weather. All of this was happening during the multiple car accident on Egan which obviously was a strain on the entire hospital staff.

To Steve, Mo, Karen, Teresa, Buddy, Ryan and Dr. Neyhart and all the staff at Bartlett...Thanks for all your hard work. We are lucky to live in a community such as this. Wishing everyone a safe and sound holiday season.

...for all your help

Aiding Women in Abuse and Rape Emergencies, AWARE, would like to thank PEO Chapter D for its ongoing support of women and children who have survived domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.

This fall, PEO's generous contribution has purchased sweatpants, sweatshirts and underwear. These are given to sexual assault victims at the hospital when their clothes are gathered as part of the evidence collection process. This thoughtful donation helps in the first step of the healing process for rape victims. It is important that they know they are not alone and the community supports and believes them.

PEO members from Chapter D have also provided school supplies for families of AWARE. Backpacks, folders, crayons, pencils and all the other things children need to start the school year off right. This has been especially helpful as we often have several families who have relocated to Juneau and have little support or resources.

We would like to thank PEO Chapter D for their ongoing support of AWARE.
