Regarding Wendall Bishop's letter, thank you. It's nice to know some people still think of Skyler and remember him. Personally, I don't want anyone to forget him, which is why I put up the bear and basket to hold flowers. Some people even thought of installing a bench there, but the idea was shot down.
I want to get a hold of the people whom put up those yellow "Crossing Ahead" signs and put another sign below them reading "In memory of Skyler Lee Kim." Ultimately it is because of his death that the overpass got lit and school zone lights and "Crossing Ahead" signs were put up so fast. He should be recognized for that. I also agree that the lights should flash sooner in the day; he was out that early to go to Breakfast Club, which starts at 7:30 a.m.
One final thing: I have placed ads in the paper and implored with the public on the radio, with not one response. Someone - adult, child or stray dog - had to have witnessed this tragedy. My mind is in torment not even knowing if Skyler was riding his bike; just because it was there doesn't mean he was riding it. And who originally moved the bike? Skyler was hit 34 feet into the crosswalk and I can't fathom how this happened.
I know it would be hard to relive the memory of what you know, but try and imagine the torment I go through every day, not knowing. Please, someone come forward. It's so hard not knowing anything.
A closing thought: If it was your son, wouldn't you want to know everything good or bad? He was my life and now he's gone. I need peace. Someone, please help me. You can contact me at the address below.
