JUNEAU - The 17th annual Polar Bear Dip will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at the Auke Village Recreation Area main shelter.
Dippers will line up along the shore and take the plunge at precisely 1 p.m. Awards are given to every dipper, and a bonfire will be roaring. Attendees are asked to bring an arm-load of wood if they have some.
Everyone is encouraged to bring hot drinks and leftover holiday cookies or candies. Plenty of calories will be used up during the plunge. Everyone is welcome.
