The Alaska Travel Industry Association Foundation is taking applications for scholarships through Jan. 14. ATIA scholarship application forms are available at http://www.alaskatia.org/More-Info/ATIA-Foundation.aspx
The scholarship program offers a number of scholarships worth more than $20,000 in cash and tuition to Alaska students pursuing post-secondary degrees and who have demonstrated an interest in tourism careers in Alaska. Interested and eligible students should apply online and submit the application form along with a transcript, one-page statement of tourism career plans and two letters of recommendation. ATIA Foundation scholarships are made possible by generous company and personal donations, and by ATIA community chapter fund raising efforts. The program is open to full or part-time post-secondary students. Last year, ten scholarships totaling $20,500 were awarded to qualified students from all over the state. Scholarship winners will be announced in February 2011 and are applicable towards the upcoming academic year. ATIA is a non-profit, member-based, trade and marketing trade association that conducts marketing on behalf of the State of Alaska and that represents the industry in the policy arena.
