Since September, a search has been on for a pharmacist for Wrangell.
Wrangell Medical Center CEO Brian Gilbert said he expects to offer a salary of $80,000 to $90,000 for the position. Federal law requires that all prescriptions for long-term care residents be reviewed monthly by a pharmacist, which presently means bringing one to town for the purpose.
"We especially would like to find a pharmacist oriented toward geriatrics," Gilbert said. "It would help to have (one) who is current on new drugs; they could do more education for the physicians."
