Age: 10

Grade: 4

School: Mendenhall River Community School

Art of choice: ballet dancing.

Why: "I like to dance because my friends are there and we have a good time."

Future plans: "I want to show other boys that ballet is not just for girls."

Other activities: soccer, jumping rope, running, hiking, ice skating, cross country skiing, biking, reading and drawing.

You should know: "J.K. Rowling is my hero, because she was poor, lived in a coffee shop, started to write stories, and then she became famous."

His classroom teacher, Rosary Lombardo, says: "Zach is a natural entertainer. All he needs is a costume, and he is instantly transformed. ... Zach is very dedicated and hard-working. When he takes on a project he gives it 100 percent of his effort. He is creative and insightful. Zach has many good ideas. He's the kind of student who, when given a task, says, 'Is it okay if I try ... ?' He's immediately thinking of ways to change it and make it his own."
