Hunter Education Facility to offer course

JUNEAU - The Juneau Hunter Education Facility will hold a basic hunter education course from 6-9:30 p.m. Jan. 11 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Juneau Hunter Education Facility, 5670 Montana Creek Road.

The course includes instruction on firearms safety and handling, wildlife conservation and management, game laws and regulations and hunter ethics and responsibility.

Hunter education courses will soon become a requirement for anyone to hunt on the Mendenhall Wetlands. Successful graduates will be awarded a lifetime hunter education certification recognized throughout North America.

Independent study materials cost $10.

To register for the course, students are required to purchase a packet of study materials at the Juneau Hunter Education Facility or the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Douglas Office, Room 201.

The study workbook must be completed prior to the start of the course and all materials brought to the class.
