JUNEAU - Unit 4 will close for the hunting of Sitka black-tailed deer and brown bear (registration hunt RB077) under the state season today. This includes all of Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof islands, as well as smaller islands within the unit.
For deer, the federal subsistence season for federally qualified hunters continues on federal lands within Unit 4 until Monday, Jan. 31, unless closed earlier by the Federal Subsistence Board.

Deer harvest tickets issued for this year continue to be valid for the federal January 2011 period, but hunters should be aware of the land ownership where they are hunting.
