JUNEAU - Joint-agency aquatic farmsite applications are now available and will be accepted by the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land and Water, from Saturday, Jan. 1 through Monday, May 2.
Upon receipt and adjudication of an application by DNR, an aquatic farm lease is issued for a 10-year property right that allows a lessee to develop the state's tide and submerged lands into a shellfish or sea plant farm. The site must meet a production level in annual sales by the end of the fifth year of the lease, and continue to hold at least this production level for each year thereafter.
Applications and information can be viewed and/or downloaded from the Department's website at: www.dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/aquatic/index.htm. Applications are also available in the DNR offices located at 400 Willoughby Ave., Suite 400 or in Anchorage at 550 West 7th Ave., Suite 900C.
