The following is a list of some of the events happening in Juneau this week in celebration of the Olympic Torch Relay's first visit to Alaska.
Alaska's Olympic torchbearers come to Juneau
Following are Alaska's torchbearers and edited versions of the letters nominating them. The names of the nominators were not released.
How the torchbearers were nominated
When the Olympic Torch Relay comes to Juneau on Jan. 24, the 45-50 Alaskans who will carry the torch each will have gone through a multi-level national nominating process before their selection.

When the Olympic Torch Relay comes to Juneau on Thursday, Jan. 24, the torch will wind its way through three sections of town - the Mendenhall Valley, Lemon Creek and downtown Juneau. This will be the first time the Olympic Torch Relay has come to Alaska.
Support runners are 'Guardians of the Flame'
Although the white-suited torchbearers will carry the Olympic flame through Juneau on Jan. 24, there will be another group of runners in the Olympic Torch Relay.
