JRC announces logo contest

The Juneau Raptor Center announced the winner of its logo design contest: Amber Rounds-McPherson.

Rounds-McPherson is a freshman at Thunder Mountain High School, who said she has always been interested in JRC and its work. Growing up in Juneau, she spent a lot of time outdoors and found her sense of community in the natural environment.

Rounds-McPherson’s mother, an artist, introduced her daughter to art at a young age. Amber grew up to experience her world through the medium. When the logo contest came along, it was a natural fit to connect her interest in JRC through her love of art.

The winning design is a creative view of a single feather, its barbs peeling off to form individual birds that continue along the natural curve and fade into the distance. As JRC updates its printed materials and web site, this is the logo that will become the face of the organization.

The Juneau Raptor Center Board of Directors congratulated Amber and wished to thank all the high school student artists who submitted designs, saying there were many excellent renderings and it was a tough decision.
