Sanders, Thompson wed

Tera Sanders of Waimanalo, Hawaii, and Jay Sanders of Douglas were married at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2011. Original plans for a snowmachine wedding in Douglas were cancelled due to weather, so the location was changed to the home of Heidi and John Carlson. A reception followed.

The bride is the daughter of Judi Blackmore and Col. William Ross Thompson. She works as a bartender at the Douglas Inn and for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

The groom is the son of Sharon and T.J. Sanders. He is a chief engineer for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

The matron of honor was Heidi Carlson and the best man was John Niemi. The couples’ brave and loyal hound, Dakota, stood by as a groomsman.

The couple has trips planned throughout the year in place of a honeymoon. They will make their home in Douglas.
