Powers celebrate 30 years

Luann and Tim Powers celebrate 30 years of marriage on Dec. 26, 2011.

The pair were married at the Coast Guard Academy Chapel in New London, Conn.

Over 30 years of marriage the Coast Guard transferred them to New York City, Washington, D.C., Mobile, Ala., Monterey, Calif., and finally Juneau.

Upon retiring from the Coast Guard in Juneau Tim began working at the University of Alaska Southeast where he has been teaching 15 years. Luann, a registered nurse, has worked at various hospitals and clinics throughout their travels. Since living in Juneau she has worked at Hospice and Homecare of Juneau and the pediatric clinic of Drs. Tom McCabe and Joy Neyhart. Luann has been the school nurse at Auke Bay Elementary School for 10 years.

They have a son, Tim Jr. and a daughter, Kerriann, as well as two grandchildren.
