Ariel Anne Lyon and Timothy McKinzie Childers wed Aug. 17, 2013, on the beach at the Eagle River Boy Scout Camp, with a reception held at the camp’s lodge. The couple welcomed friends from all around to camp and share in food and homemade cake.
The bride is the daughter of Rich and Joy Lyon of Juneau. She gradauted from Juneau-Douglas High School and atteneded Cottey College, the University of Oregon and the University of Alaska Southeast, where she is currently earning her MAT degree.
The groom is the son of Joe Childers of Auke Bay and Alice Taff of Juneau. He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and attended the University of Oregon. He is a fisherman in Bristol Bay.
The wedding was officiated by Nancy Long, a friend of both families. The bride was attended by maid of honor Gina Mullen, and Maggie Schoenfeld, Adrienne Wilber, Ray Friedlander, Jane Eden and Holly Trucano. Maya Pisel was the flower girl. The groom was attended by best man Zac Pease, as well as Zakariah Bodine, Carleton Shorey, Scott Munro, Mike Pollard and John Wright. The couple were also attended by Alishia Saulnier, Roni Java, Elizabeth Davis, Betsy Longenbaugh, Joyanne Bloom, Felix Christian, Nathan Wolf and Joel Dippold. Ushers were Daniel Lyon and Amanda Seider.
The couple first became friends in middle school and started dating in high school at senior prom. Their honeymoon was spent boating down the inside passage to their new home in Honeymoon Bay, Whidbey Island, Wash.
