William proposed to Mercedes on Jan. 24, 2015, at Sandy Beach, where the couple had their first date. He had been waiting for the perfect sunny day to propose, but Juneau’s rainy weather was not permitting it. Finally, on a particularly rainy day, he convinced Mercedes to take their dogs for a walk in the rain with him. Brian O’Sullivan captured a photo of the proposal from the bushes.
The couple lives in Juneau.
