The bride is the daughter of Larry Spencer and Carola Thompson of Juneau. She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and attended Dartmouth College and University of Washington School of Medicine. She is a resident physician in Urology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, N.C.

FAIRBANKS — Police say a pedestrian who was hit by two vehicles while crossing a busy Fairbanks street has died from his injuries.

Sam Kanayurak Jr., was taken to Anchorage with life-threatening injuries after being struck shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day. Police say the 57-year-old died Thursday at Alaska Native Medical Center.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that Kanayurak’s birthday was on New Year’s Eve, and he was struck in front of many witnesses outside a bar.

Wayne and Connie (Nikkola) Nicolls celebrated their 50th anniversary Dec. 7. The couple married in Ely, Minn., in 1963. After transferring throughout the country over the course of the 30 years Wayne was employed with the U.S. Forest Service, the couple settled in Juneau, where they’ve lived for more than 25 years. They have four children: Heather (Carl) Ramseth, Erin Nicolls, Gwen (Nathan) Rivas and David Nicolls, and seven grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate at an Open House, 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at 4235 Lake Shore Drive in Juneau.

The bride is the daughter of Kim and Ethel Smith of Juneau. She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and attended Northland College and the University of Alaska Southeast. She is employed with the Juneau School District.

The groom is the son of Irene Koch of Dade City, Fla. He attended Thomas Edison State College and is a master’s candidate at the University of Wyoming. He is employed with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.
