Michelle Dilbeck and Cory Whiting wed Feb. 26, 2013 in a private ceremony at Shipwreck Beach in Poipu, Hawaii.

The bride is the daughter of Donna and Hugh Dilbeck of Juneau. She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and is employed with Harri Plumbing and Heating.

The groom is the son of Tim and Barb Whiting of Juneau and Donna and Jerry Harris of El Mirage, Ariz. He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and is employed with Construction Machinery.

Bernadette Johnson and John Jakeman will wed July 2 in Kailua, Hawaii.

The prospective bride is the daughter of Susan Wanberg of Ketchikan and Edwin Johnson of Juneau. She attended Willamette University in Salem, Ore. where she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and the University of New Mexico, where she earned her pharmacy doctorate. She is employed with the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy as an assistant professor.

JUNEAU — A bill aimed at advancing a gas line to meet Alaska’s energy needs passed the state House despite concerns of a lack of oversight for the project and the price customers ultimately pay for gas.

HB4 passed 30-9 late Monday night after hours of debate and failed attempts led by minority Democrats to amend the bill, including one to give the Regulatory Commission of Alaska authority to review and approve contracts to ensure “just and reasonable” gas costs.

Kelly Ecklund and Kenneth Bliss were engaged to wed March 20, 2013, after almost three years together. The prospective bride is the daughter of Martha and Peter Ecklund of Juneau. The prospective groom is the son of Patricia and Mark Schuller of Pomona, Calif. The couple will wed in Washington, though the details are yet to be determined.
