Alaska Day open house at State Library, Archives and Museum

Alaska Day means an open house at the State Archives, Library and Museum and an all-Alaskan literary gathering at its store.

The Alaska State Archives and Library will host an open house 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday at the Father Andrew P. Kashevaroff State Library Archives and Museum Building, 395 Whittier St.

Attendees can check out unique and rarely seen items from collections, find out how the pros preserve old photos, letters and diaries through proper storage and digitization, peruse Alaska newspaper microfilm, and try out some local history and genealogy databases.
