Alaska Marine Lines, the main freight delivery service in Juneau owned by Lynden Transport, announced Monday it will be expanding service from Seattle and Anchorage to the Arctic Region in 2019.
New stops include the North Slope villages of Point Hope, Point Lay, Wainwright, Utqiaġvik (Barrow) and Kaktovik. They will also service Deadhorse with its two annual sealifts.
Bowhead Transport will provide the destination services through a teaming agreement with Alaska Marine Lines. These new ports add to the company’s portfolio of 65 other villages along the coast of western Alaska.
“From April to October each year we bring essential supplies to local villages in Western Alaska and provide critical support to the seafood industry,” said Alaska Marine Lines President Kevin Anderson in a press release.
The company operates twice weekly shipments from Seattle to Juneau year-round.
