It just became a little easier for businesses to pay their sales taxes.
The City and Borough of Juneau Sales Tax Office has set up an online system for businesses to pay their CBJ sales tax instead of having to file them in person or via mail. Business owners can get started by going to https://paycbj.ci.juneau.ak.us and creating a profile.
The site will allow business owners to electronically file their taxes, pay past-due balances with up-to-date quotes of the balance due, submit monthly deposits of sales tax collected, and renew and submit payment for their annual Resale of Goods Certificate.
Checking or savings accounts are allowed, but a convenience fee of one dollar per transaction is charged for each transaction. The system accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit and debit cards, with a convenience fee of 2.95 percent per transaction charged on credit or debit card payments. There is a $25,000 maximum transaction limit. Anything over $25,000 will have to be processed in multiple transactions.
For help using the online setup, people can call 586-5265 or go to http://www.juneau.org/financeftp/MerchantSalesTax.php.
