Correction for Sept. 9, 2018

An article in Wednesday’s paper about candidates withdrawing from the November general election ballot incorrectly stated that Shawn Butler, an independent who won the Democratic primary, had withdrawn from the general election. She did not withdraw. Butler remains on the ballot and will face Republican Ben Carpenter. The Empire regrets the error.
