Local dentists are offering to buy back your Halloween candy, and not just to save you from the cavities.
People with extra or leftover candy can go to Dr. Benjamin Gilbert’s office at 418 Fourth Street starting Thursday to sell the candy for $2 per pound. The buy-back program will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, 7 a.m. to noon on Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday next week.
On Saturday, people can head to Juneau Pediatric Dentistry between noon and 2 p.m. for the same program. Juneau Pediatric Dentistry is offering the same rate, $2 per pound, and this is the fourth year the office has done this. There will be healthy snacks, fun and goody bags available for children as well.
The candy from both offices will then be sent to soldiers through Operation Gratitude, which sends care packages to soldiers, sailors, first responders and families of children left behind when a soldier dies in the line of duty.
