Police arrest woman hiding in kitchen cabinet

Lisa Kuhr had three warrants for her arrest, police say

A woman with three outstanding warrants tried to evade law enforcement by cutting off her ankle monitor, police say, and when that didn’t work she hid in a kitchen cabinet.

The Juneau Police Department arrested Lisa Lana Kuhr, 45, on three outstanding warrants for not appearing in court and violating her conditions of release, according to a JPD release. At about 1:25 a.m. Saturday, a man reported to JPD that Kuhr was in a home on Dixon Street near the Governor’s Mansion, according to the release.

When police arrived, Alfred McKinley, 59, answered the door and told the officers that Kuhr wasn’t there, the release states. McKinley did allow the officers inside to search the home, though.

The officers found Kuhr hiding in a base cabinet in the kitchen, police say, and noticed that she appeared intoxicated and was not wearing her Pretrial ankle monitor. Officers later found that Kuhr had cut the ankle monitor off and found it elsewhere in the home, according to the release.

In addition to being arrested for the outstanding warrants, Kuhr was eventually arrested for criminal mischief related to the destruction of the ankle monitor. The warrants, all dated Aug. 20 and detailed in the press release, charge Kuhr with three counts of failing to appear for a Pretrial hearing, two counts of violating conditions of release and one count of making a false report to police.

McKinley was arrested for interfering with an officer, according to the release, and was later released on his own recognizance. Kuhr was held at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

According to electronic court records, Kuhr has a variety of criminal charges and convictions that date back to 2005, taking place in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Homer and Ketchikan.
