The Thunder Mountain High School basketball teams picked up wins over the Barrow Whalers in Utqiagvik on Friday.
The boys team won 68-57 to snap a four-game losing streak, while the girls squad triumphed 50-47, marking their first win of the month.
In the first game of the night at Barrow High, junior Bryson Echiverri scored a team-high 15 points and junior Brady Carandang had 14. Later in the girls game, senior Nina Fenumiai had 21 points while finishing with a black eye. Junior Taz Hauck added seven in the win. Both teams remained in the far north for one more game against Barrow on Saturday.
