Property taxes are due Oct. 1, and there’s a new option for Juneau property owners to pay those taxes this year.
People can set up automatic payment for property taxes and get the amount automatically deducted from their bank accounts on Sept. 25. To do so, people can go to www.juneau.org and look under the “CBJ News” tab. There’s an item there entitled “2018 Property Taxes are due October 1,” and a link to the required form is on that page.
Once people fill out that form, they can email it to AR@juneau.org or mail it to CBJ Accounts Receivable, 155 South Seward St., Juneau AK 99801. People must also attach a void or cancelled check, and turn it all in by Sept. 4.
For those who aren’t interested in signing up for automatic payments, the usual avenues are still open. People can mail their payment to the CBJ Treasury Office, 155 South Seward St, Juneau, AK 99801, and payment must be postmarked on or before Oct. 1.
People can drop their payment off in person at City Hall during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday). Credit cards cannot be used at City Hall. There are three dropboxes throughout town as well, located at both IGA stores and City Hall. Payment must be deposited on or before Oct. 1.
Those wishing to pay with a credit card can go to www.officialpayments.com or call 800-272-9829 using jurisdiction code 1202.
Late payments are subject to penalty and interest charges. Those with questions can call the city’s Tax Billing Office at 586-5261.
