Congress needs to exercise its responsibility over war/peace decisions

We are dismayed that Congress has allowed President Trump to impose unauthorized belligerent military actions against other nations. Congress should instead exercise its obligation as the sole body with the power to authorize military acts. The U. S. Constitution clearly places decisions of war and peace under Congressional jurisdiction and we are urging U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan and Congressman Don Young to insist that the Congress exercise this grave responsibility. Our country is currently expanding its military budget to an unprecedented degree, while defunding the society our military is meant to protect. We are counting on our Alaska delegation to subject to Congressional approval any carefully considered military actions undertaken against other sovereign nations, and to subject to the closest scrutiny any military adventurism on the part of the administration of any political party.
