It isn’t often we encounter a candidate running who openly brings in the opinion of young people. While it’s common to see fervent discussions among adults, we, the students, usually get left behind. Jeff Short, however, is not only willing to listen to us but wants our perspective in solving key issues that affect us.
As Alaska faces economic uncertainty, so does Juneau and its schools. While many agree that Juneau’s youth are integral to our future, it’s difficult to find ways to prepare ourselves for the future when our education budget is continuously slashed. Thankfully, Jeff Short not only sees this problem, but he is searching for answers: from teachers, parents, community members and high school students alike. Open to perspective and decisive in his thinking, Jeff is someone we need helping our educational system — and most importantly, our youth — reach its full potential.
