I met a young Tlingit lady and her friend this weekend, picking up rubbish that had been tossed over the bank and down into the brush around the overlook pull-off at the Auk’kwaan townsite.
This is the home of her ancestors and the rubbish is atrocious.
I wouldn’t like it if I found garbage dumped in my granny’s yard.
Would you?
When you see roadside rubbish, please pull over, stop and pick it up, just like you would if you saw it in your granny’s yard.
Or scramble down the bank at the townsite overlook and grab some trash before the brush greens out.
Gunalsheesh/thanks for my lifetime of enjoyment of this place and a sincere Gunalsheesh to the Auk’kwaan people for sharing their ancestral home so we may all enjoy it.
Free of rubbish, eh?
If you see something…grab something.
