This is to express my support for Karen Crane as mayor of Juneau, based on my experience of Karen’s leadership in two different contexts. I served with Karen on the United Way of Southeast Alaska Board of Directors. Karen was an effective chair of our board. She is conscientious, thorough and organized. She displayed a calm, kind demeanor when presiding over meetings, while making sure that we stayed on task. Karen consistently exercises good judgment. She values collaboration, and knows when to compromise and when to stand her ground. Karen also demonstrated these same leadership skills when she served as the Senior Warden of the Vestry of the church we both attend, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. I believe that these traits are critically important in the person we select as our mayor. Karen would do a very good job of leading the Assembly in a time when we particularly need strong and collaborative leadership
