Letter: Koelsch walks the talk

When it comes to people who serve on the Assembly, I look for people who say what they mean and do what they say. Sometimes, however, I find that people seeking office say things that can be taken two different ways. For example, Karen Crane says that she is for seniors in an advertisement, yet we saw that she voted to take away many of the senior’s Sales Tax Exemptions.

Karen says that she is for the single mom raising children but Karen doesn’t worry that seniors are on fixed incomes or that many seniors have worked 60 years and have a hard time making their retirement income stretch to cover their needs. In fact, many seniors just aren’t healthy enough to work.

At one point in my life, I was a single mom raising children and I never resented the Senior Sales Tax exemption given to those 65 and older. I have always thought that the seniors deserved that break and I still do.

Please consider voting for Ken Koelsch on March 15. He will bring a breath of fresh air to the Assembly! Ken will do his homework to study the issues and he will do what he says. We citizens of Juneau deserve a mayor who walks the talk.
