LGBTQ+ flag at federal building was proper
In response to Tom Dawson’s letter about flying the LGBTQ+ flag on the same staff as the U.S. flag, the display was proper according to the Flag Code which states “when flags of states, cities, or localities, or pennants of societies are flown on the same halyard with the flag of the United States, the latter should always be at the peak.” As to Mr. Dawson’s comment about what the flag stands for, the website www.usa.gov/flag says “the American flag is a symbol of freedom and liberty.” Apparently, Mr. Dawson does not believe this means freedom and liberty for all. As an aside, please dispose of U.S. flags properly. They can be given to a veteran’s organization or the Boy Scouts to be disposed of respectfully.
