Two of the three things certain in life are taxes and change. Many people don’t like either one. We won’t talk about the third in this letter.
Juneau’s senior population is expected to increase from 10 percent in 2014 to 17 percent by 2022 and 20 percent by 2032. Funding for the needed services of our community will require continued monitoring of the tax structure. The change in the senior sales tax exemption was not popular. Who likes to pay taxes? But it was needed and the city officials who made the tough decision to modify the exemption deserve our support for their decision.
We need to respect the decisions made in the past and to recognize that change will occur in the future. We need public officials who will make decisions to improve our lives in the future. We need assembly members who make tough choices and the best decisions for the future of the entire community.
To reemphasize, we need assembly members who will focus on the future of Juneau. Please vote for Kate Troll and Arnold Liebelt for Juneau Assembly.
