We used to talk about our national debt. President Reagan brought it to our attention back in 1981 when we hit our first trillion.
I care more about my grandchildren than anything in this world. We have burdened them with an unsustainable debt.
Today, I make a public apology to my grandchildren and all young children for the debt we have left them. I have attempted to make a difference but failed.
As President Roosevelt expressed in 1933: we only follow the “rules of a generation of self seekers,” enjoying the pleasures of life while leaving our young children with our debt.
I apologize to all young children, for my generation’s behavior as “self seekers.”
