On a mission to improve mental health in Alaska

As founder of Mental Health Consumers Action Network (MCAN) can I must voice an opinion on the current state of mental health consumers in the city of Juneau and the state of Alaska. We can pass blame on what happened recently here with the Bergmann Hotel, but the question is why were these consumers housed in this condition to begin with? We can also ask why is this allowed to happen in this great state? I think this issue concerns us all and we need to give these consumers a chance to lead productive lives as much as they possibly can. It is important to have proper housing in order to recover and be part of society and have a good quality of life — I think we owe them that. We at MCAN will advocate for this in the future. Please support us in this mission.
