Opinion: A message to the elders affected by Gov. Dunleavy’s budget

Our seniors are afraid.

Our seniors are afraid. They feel the only promise being kept is to protect the Permanent Fund Dividend.

[Pioneer Home residents worry about future]

My thought to those frightened elders is this: A promise is being kept by Gov. Mike Dunleavy to his voters who demanded a full PFD, so be grateful and fear not, for at that moment when the time comes to toss out the elderly who can no longer afford the Pioneer Homes, those who are expelled will still be able to collect a full PFD as promised, and maybe even get another Republican campaign promise as they ask for continued support.

Be grateful — he could have thrown you under the bus, but Capital Transit got its budget cut as well. Remember, a promise made is a promise kept.
