Opinion: Be careful what Juneau builds next

Juneau shouldn’t waste money on the New JACC.

Once again the people of Juneau are being fed a line. The line is, if we build the New JACC building, it will move Juneau forward. Just where to is unclear. They indicate that people will flock here to attend a performance or book a convention, spending millions here in Juneau.

A good example of swallowing a line is the whale that was built down by Douglas bridge. The whale was supposed to attract thousands of people to admire the beautiful structure, but any day of the week you can count them on one hand.

By the time we build, head and light, upkeep and staff the new building, it could be a much larger backfire than the whale. I hope that people will be a little more cautious about what they swallow today, as almost 30 million could cause a very large hiccup.
