Opinion: Galvin will be an independent voice

I’ve known her for over 20 years and vouch for her sincerity, kindness, moral compass and enthusiasm.

I have known Alyse Galvin for over 20 years and can vouch for her sincerity, kindness, strong moral compass and enthusiasm. She is also smart and honest. When she says she will be an independent voice for Alaska you can believe her.

Since I came to Alaska in 1973 Alaska has had the same person in Congress. Perhaps long ago Don Young’s brand of rude, outrageous belligerence was useful, but half a century later it’s not working; he has lost all his committee chairmanships due to ethics violations and has termed out of eligibility to get any new ones. He can’t help Alaska anymore.

We need someone like Alyse who is energetic, full of ideas, and can work well with others. As an Independent caucusing with the U.S. House Majority she will be able to speak to power on Alaska issues and by joining the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, she will insure she is open to ideas and has connections across the aisles. Alyse will bring legislators of all parties together to find solutions for issues, like economic recovery from COVID and addressing climate change, that work for Alaska.

Frankly, I don’t agree with her on every issue, but unlike the current Congressman, she listens to and considers many views. If Alaska’s issues are to have any attention in Washington in the coming years, we need a change in our delegation.

Please join me in voting for Alyse Galvin, Independent for Congress.
