Don Young is part of the swamp. Mr. Young came to the House in 1973 — almost half a century ago. He has been in office for far too long. While he claims that his tenure is an asset, it is actually a clear liability for Alaska. He has lost all his committee chairmanships and became a feckless representative.
It’s time for Don Young to be replaced, and the person to take this seat is Alyse Galvin. When I first heard she was running against Mr. Young, I called her and we spent a good deal of time on the phone having a thoughtful and meaningful conversation about her vision for the future of Alaska. I found her to have very organized and well thought-out positions. She is intelligent and passionate about Alaska’s future. My last meeting with Don lasted only two minutes, with Don doing all the talking. He learned nothing of my concerns; peppering me with his ideology.
It’s time for Don to be retired, bringing new leadership to Congress and rebuilding a meaningful seniority once again — let’s not miss this opportunity. Alyse is getting my vote and I hope she gets yours too.
