When she failed in her bid to become U.S. vice president in 2008, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had a chance to prove to us what she was made of. Turns out, she was all ego and puffery, not grit or dedication to Alaska. On her last visit to Haines as governor in early 2009, Palin refused to answer any questions from local news reporters but found time to sign dozens of autographs, demonstrating that her brand had become more important to her than her job. Palin quit as our governor and turned tail on Alaska to seek fame as a TV celebrity. She built an $8 million house in Arizona. Now that shrinking pop stardom has reduced her to dancing in a fuzzy, pink bear outfit, Palin wants back into politics. Don’t be fooled again. Sarah doesn’t want to represent Alaskans, she wants to be famous. Let’s not turn Alaska’s one seat in Congress into another of her bad TV shows. Just say no to the pink, dancing bear.
