Opinion: Viral spread should be attributed to vaccine hesitancy

If you are concerned about the vaccine, contact your medical provider.

The Friday, Sept. 3 edition of the Juneau Empire had a front-page article with information from Alaska’s chief medical officer, Dr. Anne Zink. The article reported, “The rise in cases is primarily attributed to the delta variant of the virus…” In reality, it is the ignorant people who refuse to get vaccinated.

Have you noticed that when there is a multiple vehicle pile up on icy roads, the ice is blamed for the accident, not the drivers who were driving too fast for conditions? The same is true for fog. It is always the fog causing the accident and not the drivers who were driving too fast for conditions.

To those refusing to get vaccinated, you are primarily the cause for the increase in virus cases in Alaska. If you are concerned about the vaccine, contact your medical provider. Don’t rely on social media or your friend’s opinions.
