It is time for Alaska’s senators to hear from us about our health care rights.
We must call U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and urge her to stay strong in the fight against defunding Planned Parenthood and to stand up for women’s rights. We must call on U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, to think about the future of Alaska’s health care rather than his own special interests in D.C.
The upcoming health care bill would be dangerous for so many of us Alaskans. It would not only increase our health care costs (and we already have to pay the highest health care costs in the country), but it would defund Planned Parenthood and weaken Medicaid, which so many Alaskans rely on both programs for affordable and quality health care. This is not an acceptable solution for Alaskans.
As a mother of two children, one of which has Type 1 Diabetes and the other who was born prematurely due to pregnancy complications, it is imperative for my family to have access to an affordable health care solution.
Because my last pregnancy was so difficult, I needed a solution and Planned Parenthood was able to assist me with options in regards to family planning and birth control. Without Planned Parenthood and their support, any future pregnancies would have a high chance of resulting in life-threatening emergencies or even death. As you could imagine, that would be an added stress to our family.
In addition, my two children are thriving because of affordable, quality health care that is currently available to them. We cannot allow Alaskans to lose their insurance or experience an inconceivable amount in premiums. Please contact Sens. Murkowski and Sullivan to do whatever it takes publicly and legislatively to stand against the health care bill.
