Senators: Don’t slash Medicaid

In Alaska, Medicaid pays for childbirth, assisted living and nursing care for seniors, and treatment of addiction. This program has worked well, with very low administrative costs, since it was passed in 1965. Now Republicans in Washington, D.C. are trying to slash Medicaid care, instead of repealing Obamacare as they have promised for the last seven years. There is no question what this would mean for Alaska: More dead babies, who could have been saved. More homeless seniors, who could have had housing with dignity. More drug addicts breaking into homes to feed their habit, who could have gotten treated for addiction. U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan should vote against this horrific legislation.
