I have always been proud to be from Alaska, and you reinforced that feeling with your vote against opening debate on the health care bill. You showed the country what strong Alaskans, and strong women, do. We stand up for what we believe in and keep our promises.
Thank you for standing with Planned Parenthood and supporting access to health care for the millions of Americans that use their services each year. From comprehensive sex education to cancer screenings, Planned Parenthood strives to improve the lives of everyone. Of course, beyond defunding Planned Parenthood the health care bill would have had numerous other detrimental effects on Alaskans, from removing Medicaid funding to increasing premiums.
Thank you, U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, for standing by Alaskans and listening to us when we call you (again and again and again). Here’s to all the women in our community and across the country who stand strong, even when the victory is accredited to others. I only hope that U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, will change his mind in the future and listen to his constituents.
