The Fourth of July was one holiday I used to look forward to. Not anymore. Now it is just a torture! The once revered holiday has become mostly intolerable because of those who feel it is their right to pollute the air and to set off extremely ear-splitting fireworks in the neighborhoods. The disruption is not just on the Fourth of July — it begins in the middle of June and may continue into August.
What ever happened to the idea of not disturbing the peace? Who gave these “people” permission to illegally buy and explode these fireworks whenever they choose: during the day, late in the evening, any time at night, etc. Where is our help? Where are our keepers of the peace!
Why, why do we have to suffer so that a few people can get their pseudo thrills? One neighbor described the results of a fireworks party in that there was debris all over the yard, shreds of cardboard in the lawn, driveway, truck, and roof plus a few burned rings.
My poor dog is beside himself when it begins and he shakes and pants for hours. And as someone suggested how is this noise helping those with PTSD? Somehow, we as a community need to work together to find out how we can solve this problem and really work with this so that in the end everyone is satisfied.
