Dozens of Juneau residents, members of the Juneau Gospel Workshop Choir, gathered March 5 to perform in “A Celebration of African American History in Song and Story.” Directed by Rev. Bobby Lewis of Harlem, New York, who has directed concerts both in Juneau and Fairbanks, the event celebrated of hope, faith and history. Coming just after Black History Month, readers from the choir highlighted the stories of Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Coretta Scott King and other black female leaders of the past and present.
