Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL) is seeking nominations for its 2018 Aging and Disability Advocate of the Year award. Now in its 11th year, this annual award honors individuals, businesses and organizations who promote, advocate for and enhance the dignity, quality of life and inclusion of seniors and people experiencing disabilities.

Nominees will be notified at the end of July and officially recognized at SAIL’s fall gala on Oct. 20.
With offices in Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Haines (and currently establishing offices in Klawock, Kake, Hydaburg, Angoon, Hoonah and Yakutat, SAIL is Southeast Alaska’s Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and Center for Independent Living. SAIL provides an array of independent living services and resources across Southeast Alaska. Fifty-one percent of SAIL’s staff, board members and decision makers are people experiencing disabilities, ensuring SAIL is responsive to individual and community needs.
Recent honorees include: Merle Ritter (2008), Cheryl Putnam (2012), Eaglecrest Ski Area (2014), Sara Boesser (2015), Allen Marine Tours (2015), Lynn Marvel (2016), Tim Huber (2016), Bud Curtis/Alaska Grafix (2017) and Pat Arasmith (2017).
