ATIA gives three scholarships to students in Ketchikan

The Alaska Travel Industry Association, announced recipients from Ketchikan for the 2016-2017 ATIA Foundation scholarship awards.

The ATIA Foundation was established to assist Alaskans desiring to further their education in the travel industry. Scholarship funds are raised through donations from industry members. Since 2001, the ATIA Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to more than 150 individuals. Past scholarships have benefitted Alaska students pursuing their career in tourism from Ketchikan to Nome and Kodiak to Tok with a special Rural Award benefiting villages and small communities.

Elizabeth Jagusch received the Un-Cruise Adventures Scholarship, a one-year $3,000 scholarship.

Bernadette Franulovich received the Kris Geldaker Memorial Scholarship, a one-year $2,500 scholarship funded through the ATIA Ketchikan Chapter (renewable for up to four years) for students pursuing a degree in tourism or maritime related field. Additionally, she received the ATIA One-Year Scholarship, a $500 scholarship funded through ATIA member pledges.
